Dublin Comic Con will take place this weekend, August 6th and 7th. To say we are excited would be an understatement. There is so much on including; loads of amazing special guests who are doing signings and photos, panels, talks, workshops, and sets to name but a few.
There is so much to chose from it can be overwhelming so we’ve narrowed it down to 4 things you absolutely cannot miss out on.
This year’s official comic: The Phantom 80th Anniversary Special, features memoirs of The Phantom and Lee Falk as well as new and exclusive strip content! The best thing about the comic is that ALL profits will be split between Temple Street Children's Hospital, Crumlin Hospital, and Tallaght Hospital’s Children's Ward.
If you are over 18 and want to get the full experience then this is the place to start. It takes place the night before ComicCon opens so take it easy unless you want a sore head on Saturday. There will be a full bar, live music from Thomas Ian Nicholas and Brental Floss, and stand-up from Robert Maschio! There will also be a table quiz with a tonne of great prizes.
Game of Thrones fans behold. A ridiculously realistic replica of The Iron Throne will take centre stage in the foyer of the first floor, along with other Game of Thrones props. If you’ve ever wanted to be King or Queen of Kings Landing, this is your chance. It does cost €10 a pop for “The Throne Experience” but this includes a professional digital and print photograph and we definitely think it’s worth it.
Let’s be honest, one of the best parts about going to ComicCon is seeing all of the amazing cosplayers and costumes. The amount of work which goes into them is mind blowing and there are great prizes up for grabs this year. The contest is on from 2-4pm in the Auditorium - however take note that it’s only on the Sunday. We can already tell the standard is going to be insane!
