Everyone’s work is deeply idiosyncratic: in our regular Spotlight segment we explore artists’ experiences and inspiration to understand what defines and inspires their unique styles. Going by the moniker Lexus Pryme, Stephen Ato Kwamena Acquah, is a Ghanaian digital artist who brings as much emotion and attitude to his minimal line drawings as his brightly coloured final pieces.
I'm an artist with keen interest in using the digital media (computer) to create innovative designs / art. Basically I focus on portrait illustration, landscape painting, abstract art, comic illustration, infography, logo design and other graphic design based works. I extensively use Photoshop, Corel, etc on the computer and android tablet.
Being in Ghana has a great impact on my career. Experiences in the country has influenced the great percentage of my work (career).
My greatest inspiration is how the computer has availed a broad horizon for artistic exploration.
I have a digital abstract painting entitled "Sails and Oceans" to me has had a lasting impression on me. This painting is metaphoric of the experiences one has in life on their pursuit of their lifetime goals and dreams. Life provides each human entity on earth with tools both within and without each person which are to be used to fight against the turbulent storms of life.
I primarily used digital methods to create my art. This is due to its manoeuvrable nature in execute ideas. I'm able to revisit unfinished works (even finished works) to effect changes on parts of my work to introduce new ideas in the work.
